There are subtle tropical touches to the décor, from woven rugs underfoot to accents of dark mahogany in the villa’s design. There’s an air of exclusivity here, an idyllic and comfortable home for your Caribbean getaway. Situated in the lower hills of Gouverneur, Villa Mer Soleil is all about the ocean, which is almost visceral at the villa. From every angle, the shimmering Caribbean is framed through a doorway or window, making it seem as if the villa is floating on air. The beach is a 3-minute drive down the hill, while Gustavia is around 10 minutes by car. The shared living spaces are characterized by airy, vaulted ceilings, and a flowing open plan. The entirety of Villa Mer Soleil enjoys cooling sea breezes, flowing through the spacious great room which is home to the living area, kitchen, and dining table. In the living room, there’s ample seating on the large sofas. Soft and inviting, it’s a great spot to sink in at any time of the day, enjoying the cool natural breezes washing through the home and gazing out at the view. A large flat-screen TV also provides entertainment. A fully-equipped modern kitchen at Villa Mer Soleil is separated from the living room by a breakfast bar. Chef-level appliances make cooking here a breeze, and there’s enough space for everyone to get involved. Our concierge could even organize a visit from one of the island’s chefs for a private meal. Next to the kitchen is a large dining table that can easily seat up to 10 guests. A large opening in the wall here looks out over the pool and ocean beyond, a picturesque setting for meals at the villa. There are 3 bedrooms at Villa Mer Soleil, calm and relaxed spaces designed to let you unwind and indulge. Each room comes with a luxurious ensuite. Two of the three bedrooms are on the main floor, with the master connecting to the kitchen, and a guest room connecting to the terrace in front. The third bedroom is on the lower level and has a private terrace. All three bedrooms come with a king-sized bed, TV, and his-and-her closets. Sparks from the sun reflect towards the villa all day, with stunning sunsets as a bonus. You could enjoy it all from one of the several sitting areas on the covered terrace, watching as luxury yachts sail past on their way to the Gustavia harbor while sipping on a cool drink. You could also spend a day lounging by the pool, surrounded by a large deck with low-slung chaise sun lounges. The water is refreshing, and there’s even a stylish firepit where your group can gather during the evening and enjoy the starry night sky. For days at the beach, it’s a short 3-minute drive down the hill to Gouverneur Beach. Located on the south side of St. Barts, this pristine beach is quiet and remote, offering visitors a more rugged side of this Caribbean island. Not much further to the other side are the popular beaches at St. Jean and Lorient.
